Hawaii Day 2 was catch up on sleep day, so I decided to combine Days 2 & 3! Our first full day at Hawaii was beautiful, and I finally woke up at 10 to see the view outside of my balcony, and a pool right outside it.
Yeah. We grabbed some stuff to eat and pretty much spent the day walking around the resort and hanging out by the pool. Nothing too notable here, but I did try some tasty Kona coffee toffee ice cream. I also started binging the podcast Serial, so check back to hear my thoughts on that!
We ate dinner at Tommy Bahama. I know, you wouldn't expect much from a clothing store, but it was truly one of the best dinners on the trip so far.
The next morning, although the weather wasn't as nice, we had a much more eventful day. It was Christmas Eve Eve, and we woke up a little earlier and ate breakfast at this cute place called Island Lava Java, and thus began my trip-long love affair with avocados. I added some on my toast and never looked back.
We visited a coffee plantation in the afternoon and got to see coffee go from seeds in little red fruits on trees all the way to the lattes we know and love. It was actually a really cool place and there were some cats and roosters to keep the smaller rodents away from the java. We took the boat back and had a more relaxed dinner at a Mexican place at our hotel, and finally got a good night's sleep before going to Volcanoes National Park the next day.
