5 Things You NEED to Know About Influencer Marketing

1.     What it is.

Since Hollywood has celebrities that influence their industry, we at the internet have bloggers and social media personalities that influence our own. Influencer marketing is embedded right into the things we see every day online, and is integrated to make marketing seamless, getting the right point across. The next four points are some top takeaways about developments in the influencer marketing world from TopRank marketing:

Ranking the Films/TV Shows produced on Tulane's Campus!

Yes, maybe the hustle and bustle of the Hollywood South isn't THE reason to go to Tulane, but hey, it definitely doesn't hurt! As of late 2014, there were more films and TV shows in production in New Orleans than there were in Hollywood, and it continues to be a more hoppin' spot each year. Even if the setting isn't right at Tulane exactly, that doesn't stop Tulane students from running into celebs at Reily Center or the nearby Whole Foods! Without further ado, here's everything filmed on Tulane's campus in the 2010s, ranked:

6. Our Brand Is Crisis
This 2015 Sandra Bullock film was a bit of a disappointment at the box office and among critics, but our very own McAlister Auditorium was a key filming location in the movie, and who can't resist a great Sandra Bullock character?

Oscar recap

Last night was my personal Super Bowl of the year: it was Oscar night! Here are some highlights/thoughts/quick takes.

Feminism
I was a big fan of the #AskHerMore trend, and did realize that it was taken into account when posing interview questions. I was a bigger fan of Patricia Arquette's movement for equal pay and Meryl and J-Lo's response.

5. PTX, Vol. III (Top 10 of 2014)

PTX, Vol. III (Pentatonix)

Wow, Pentatonix never seizes to amaze me. They are by far the best a cappella group that today's music world has to offer. Although it was their holiday album "That's Christmas To Me" that became the bestseller, only being topped by Sam Smith, Taylor Swift, and the Frozen soundtrack, "PTX, Vol. III" was what was on repeat for me. Every year, I see Pentatonix become more mainstream, and after this latest EP, I see a full album release in their future.

SUMMER JOB OPPORTUNITY!

I sent out an email to TUCAN, a tutoring organization that I'm involved with at Tulane, and I decided to share a variation of it here. Hope anyone reading will enjoy and maybe reach out to me if you're interested!

As spring semester begins, you'll find that a lot of people are starting to think about their summers, and I wanted to let you guys know about an amazing job opportunity!

That opportunity is Camp Echo Lake, a seven week overnight camp in New York for kids aged 8-16. This will be my third summer working there, and I couldn't think of any better way to spend my summers. I can promise you that it will be the hardest you have ever worked, and the best job you will ever have.

Right now, Echo Lake is looking to hire staff that come from all over the country and the world! A lot of the staff are currently in college and they range from age 18 to 25 or older. Last summer, I recommended the job to my friend Naomi, and she flew from California and had a blast, and she'll be returning as well this summer! So I'd like to extend the invitation to all of you. I know you guys are all great tutors at NFL Yet and you guys would make great camp counselors. If you haven't had the camp experience growing up, now is the time to see what it's all about.

With the one week orientation before camp begins, you would need to be free from June 19th to August 17th. Feel free to look around the website for more information and be sure let me know if you are interested and ask me any questions you might have. (You might see a familiar face!) Shoot me an email at jsussma@tulane.edu and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Thanks for reading this far and hope to see you this summer at camp!

With lots of TUCAN love,
Jake Sussman
Daily Coordinator

6. Gone Girl (Top 10 of 2014)

Gone Girl

I never read Gillian Flynn's popular novel, but I did hear great things about it, so I was pretty excited about this movie. I wasn't even sure what it was about, which I think is the best way to go into watching it. And wow, were my expectations exceeded. Even though the movie was way over two hours, it didn't feel too long as I was completely invested the whole way through. I don't want to spoil too much, but I can't believe how my feelings about the couple, played brilliantly by Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike, could shift so much over the course of the story.

7. Problem (Top 10 of 2014)

Problem by Ariana Grande feat. Iggy Azalea
Yes, Iggy's "Fancy" was the official song of the summer, but "Problem" was my personal jam. The moment that saxophone riff kicks in you know you're in for a party. As it is with most Ariana songs, she goes right for it, belting the first line. It doesn't waste time building up the whole time, but rather it builds up with a very strong transition that you can't help but sing along to ("head in the clouds, got no weight on my shoulders...")
