Problem by Ariana Grande feat. Iggy Azalea
Yes, Iggy's "Fancy" was the official song of the summer, but "Problem" was my personal jam. The moment that saxophone riff kicks in you know you're in for a party. As it is with most Ariana songs, she goes right for it, belting the first line. It doesn't waste time building up the whole time, but rather it builds up with a very strong transition that you can't help but sing along to ("head in the clouds, got no weight on my shoulders...")
Yes, it might be hard to understand each word Grande sings as usual, and surprisingly, the most lax part of the song is the whisper chorus from an uncredited performance by Ariana's beau, Big Sean. Lastly, the cherry on top of this pop ditty is surely Iggy's verse that had many thinking they can rap (myself included). I truly never got tired of this song in 2014!
"Break Free" featuring Zedd and "Love Me Harder" featuring The Weeknd were great follow-ups, but "Problem" takes the take for best single off of her album "My Everything", and for one of the greatest songs of the year. Can't wait to see what Ariana does next.
